Soft Cover 128 pages. Black and white photos graphs and illustrations. In order to dive safely and reduce the risk of underwater emergencies, divers of all levels need to become self-sufficient. Solo Diving examines the strengths and weaknesses of the buddy system, and explains why some divers choose to dive alone. It addresses what it takes to become self-sufficient underwater including self-evaluation, physiology, fitness (physical and psychological), air management, emergency breathing systems, thermal protection, ascents, and cold/arduous dives.

“This is truly the only book concerned with diving that I feel confident recommending to anyone, regardless of their underwater experience. I’m convinced that it should be required reading for the entire diving community.”—Dr. Stephen A Llyod, physiologist

“Not only is this the most enlightened treatment of underwater self-sufficiency, it is the most relevant for today’s divers... .a breath of fresh air.”—Marc Nickerson, hyperbaric technician and dive instructor
