JBL Speargun Floatation Kit for 1 1/4 Inch Barrels

The JBL Float Kit is designed to replace kits that have been worn out and no longer create a sealed barrel. Floatation Kits are designed to work with all 1 ¼” aluminum spear guns except for the Custom, 38 Special, 38 Special Elite, and 38 Special North West.

Tools Needed:

  • Phillips head screwdriver

  • Needle nose pliers

  • Dentist tool/ similar tool for prying

  1. The first step is to remove the original Float Kit. To do this first unscrew the barrel from both the trigger grip and muzzle using a Phillips head screwdriver. Once removed you should be able to see the original float kit resting about 1 ½” inches inside on either emd of the barrel. With the pliers remove the original retaining ring. This is the near‐circle piece of wire resting on top of the kit. With the clip removed use a dentist tool to pry the seal assembly out of the barrel. Be careful not to damage or dent the inside of the barrel. This will cause the new seal kit to not fit properly. You will be removing two aluminum circles sandwiching a single piece of rubber. Discard these and remove the other side’s seal by simply pushing them from the back.

  1. With the seals removed you are now ready to insert the new seal kit. First lubricate the inside of the barrel with glycerin or dish soap. Next place the rubber seal in between the two aluminum circles with the sharper edges facing away from the rubber. Insert this piece as a whole starting with one edge against the indents in the barrel’s wall and then pressing inward until the entire seal is seated against the indents. Make sure that the seal is seated properly or it will not be watertight. Insert the new retaining wing against the seal kit. Lastly reattach the muzzle and trigger grip to complete the replacement process.
