While our BladeTamer™ sheaths will fit almost any appropriately sized knife, they are specifically designed to accommodate knives by R.H. Forschner(see size chart). In particular, the unique shape of the ergonomically designed handle along with the curved blade and raised tip of the breaking knives, make the patented design of “BladeTamer” a necessity.
R.H. Forschner, a division of Swiss Army Brands Inc., has been in business manufacturing quality cutlery since 1855.
Their blade, a high carbon stainless steel hand finished at Victorinox® in Switzerland, is made using a special tempering process to produce an edge that can be sharpened over and over again.
All of the handles are ergonomically designed to minimize wrist tension. They are available in the traditional classic, Rosewood, or Fibrox®, the patented NSF approved, dishwasher safe, and slip resistant material.
Due to Forschner’s unique manufacturing process, the edge on a Forschner knife can be re-sharpened over and over again. Therefore, the knife will keep its original sharpness throughout its life.
Details/ Stats
Curved blades allow for a better working angle when cutting close to and around the bone. Unsurpassed ease and control during the fillet process. A cimeter or scimitar is a large, curved butcher's knife.
All R.H. Forschner knives feature a taper ground beveled edge. The knives are thicker on top, while the edge thinner and extremely sharp. They do not use a hollow ground blade.
R.H. Forshner/Victorinox® knives use only first grade A quality steel x 50cr MO composition with a Rockwell hardness of 55-56 HRC for high edge retention.
The Blade Tamer Story
The idea for "BLADE TAMER" came into existence about 3 years ago after I had come in from fishing one day and realized how long I had been using my Forschner® to filet fish and never could find a sheath to fit the blade. As most of you know, Forschner's are as sharp as a razor and can be very dangerous if not handled properly.
I set out to design and manufacture a sheath utilizing the finest materials available along with a top quality manufacturing process. I would hope you agree, after purchasing one, that I have succeeded.
